Position Overview:

Product Specialist will support the Product Development department and work with the product managers on various projects. This position will be responsible for creating and maintaining product specification documentation for all products: Creation, final specifications, final approval samples, and product revision tracking. The Product Specialist will interact with many departments as well as oversee document control for each product sku and post design specific details for all products. Please note this is not a graphic or product design position but these skill sets are required for product enhancement during document control/revisions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain sku workbook for all products
  • Create and maintain document control for each product sku, which will aid in QC processes, procurement, and customer service needs, as well as domestic and international supplier standards
  • Assist Product Development Director in creating and maintaining trackers and specification standards for NPD projects
  • Support product managers and designers in creating and updating product specifications for sample development and NPD process
  • Review product spec sheet for technicalities and inspect product at a manufacturing level
  • Assist product development with QC issues through sku documentation knowledge
  • Lead the maintenance and upkeep of databases for all product specifications for global procurement
  • Be an integral part of the sku setup process and coordination of product technical specifications Coordination and communicate with other departments regarding product development activities Recommend product enhancement and updates
  • Maintain complete documentations for all product related activities

Minimum Qualifications:

The IT Systems Engineer is responsible for defining, designing, developing, and deploying automated application solutions for Allen Company. This position is responsible for diving deeply into end user workflow and identifying opportunity for automation while supporting server hardware and network operations. The ideal candidate is an IT and system administration generalist with EDI and ERP experience.

  • Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.
  • Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures.
  • Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administration and business operational tasks.
  • Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
  • Provide support per request from various constituencies, including other areas of IT like EDI, Database, Desktop support.  Investigate and troubleshoot issues.

  • Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure / add new services as necessary.
  • Maintain operational, configuration, or other procedures.
  • Perform periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning.

  • Maintain data center environmental and monitoring equipment.

  • Plans, develops, implements and communicates process improvements and enhancements to improve current warehouse processes and configurations to promote efficiency, customer service and reduce costs
  • Manages inventory accuracy through the monitoring of daily warehouse activities, performing regular cycle counts and physical inventory
  • Holds team accountable for their performance by writing effective annual reviews, performance improvement plans, and corrective actions
  • Provides detailed training, sets clear expectations and enforces policies and procedures while giving continuous positive and constructive feedback
  • Develops, implements, and maintains SOPs for each functional area
  • Promotes and facilitates a culture of continuous improvement, driving global best practices
  • Knowledgeable of industry best practices and ensures company meets or exceeds industry shipping and packaging standards
  • Inspects and audits orders randomly for shipping accuracy

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 7-10 years of relevant Distribution experience
  • 5-7 years of Distribution leadership experience
  • B.S. or B.A. Degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related discipline
  • Must have experience in Big Box shipping and distribution.

  • Must have warehouse experience with daily order fulfillment and emphasis on big box retailers
  • Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement experience
  • Strong experience leading a safety oriented culture
  • Must have a positive, can do attitude and is willing to do what it takes to get the job done

 

Work Environment

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, reach, bend and move about the facility
  • Usual warehouse and manufacturing conditions exist such as dust, lighting, noise and temperature
